BYS 10/06/24 🟨 Removing The Mask
Be brave, unmask, and be YOU.
Though you might don disguise for the purposes of a masquerade party or to go trick-or-treating, the best practice outside of those two circumstances is to shed social masks and express your real thoughts, feelings, and identities.
Don't pretend to be someone other than who you are in today's Big Yellow Sticky...
Don't hide your authentic self behind a mask.
It’s easy (and fun!) pretending to be someone else for Halloween.
You might hide behind a scary monster or a funny character, enjoying the fun of being someone different. But in a way these moments are also a chance to take off the invisible mask you wear every day — the one that keeps you from showing people who you really are.
Halloween can be a reminder that while we dress up to play different roles, it’s okay to stop pretending when it comes to who you are inside.
There is a real you behind the costume and the mask. It’s tempting to keep that part hidden, especially when you worry about what others might think if they knew the "real" you, but being authentic means letting people see the real person beneath the surface.
Just like you take off the Halloween mask at the end of the night, you can choose to unmask your true self in order to share your thoughts, feelings, and personality without fear. The real connections happen when you’re not afraid to be who you are without hiding behind a disguise.
See you tomorrow with a brand new Big Yellow Sticky...
