Customers Are Volunteers
When you buy a product or service from a business, you are not just making a transaction. You are also making a choice to support that business and its mission. You are volunteering to help the business succeed. All businesses rely on these volunteers (customers) in order to achieve their sales goals.
Your customers are volunteering to support your business in the exact same way.
When you view your customer as a volunteer it changes the way you think about them and the way you interact with them. You become more appreciative of their contributions and you are more motivated to provide them with a positive and rewarding experience.
When you view your customers as volunteers, you create a more positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved. You also build stronger relationships with your customers, which can lead to increased loyalty and advocacy.
The next time you are dealing with a customer (especially in a situation where they have a problem with your product or service) remember that they are volunteers. They are choosing to do business with you because they believe in your mission and your products or services.
Be grateful for the support of your volunteers and let your customers know how much you appreciate their business and their willingness to volunteer their time, energy and money to support your cause.
Even a simple "thank you" can go a long way.
