BYS 11/05/24 🟨 Principles of Participation
Participate in the process means more than simply casting a vote.
Participating means being an active, informed citizen who engages with the democratic process on multiple levels. It’s about recognizing that democracy thrives when citizens are not just observers but contributors to shaping the future of their country.
Thank you for voting!
Participate in the Process
It's more than just showing up to vote.
Participating in the U.S. presidential election process means taking the time to understand what each candidate stands for and how their policies might affect you and the people around you.
You don’t have to dive into every detail, but knowing the basics of where each candidate stands on key issues helps you make an informed choice. This isn't about agreeing with everything a candidate says (who agrees with anyone on every point??), it's about finding the person whose vision for the country aligns most with your values and priorities.
You can also support the democratic process in other ways. You might share useful information with friends or family, volunteer for a campaign or at a polling location, or even attend a local event to hear directly from candidates during a debate or townhall. These actions contribute to the larger system that keeps democracy alive and accountable.
By actively engaging, you’re not just choosing a leader, you’re helping to shape the country’s future direction in a way that reflects what matters to you, the kind of citizen you wish to be, and the kind of world you want to leave for the next generation.
